Whats good Marshall?

Good Morning and Happy Sunday!

I fell in love with Marshall about a year ago. After opening the cafe in March I started to get to know a little more about this sweet little town nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. From monthly Rodeos to the thigh slapping folks on Friday nights playing bluegrass at The Depot there’s much more to this town than the beautiful landscape. It seems almost everyone here is an artist, musician or creative. Landlords resist the urge to construct big condos and strive to keep our town cozy and focused on our community. The downtown association organizes amazing events like the Mermaid Parade in June, Santa visits at the Courthouse in December and Marshall’s Mardi Gras, aka Marshall-Gras. A quick stroll over the bridge will bring you to the beautiful Capitola Mill. Lovely riverside apartments and an amazing Spa and Sauna. Keep walking and you’ll find yourself on Blannahassett Island.

On the 3rd Saturday of every month you can enjoy live music, food trucks and artists slinging their goods. This coming month we will be joining the fun on the island with our own burgers, hot dogs and pulled pork sammies (with sides and our famous Sweet Tea of course too!). Marshall is huddled between two other lovely towns, Mars Hill and Hot Springs both also worthy of a visit.

Here are some of our favorite places to hang out:

Zumas - Great coffee drinks and they have a piano! And offer lots of live music throughout the month

Mad Co. Pizza - Amazing pizza! They also offer comedy nights or music and a beautiful outdoor view of the French Broad River

Zadies at the Jailhouse - Beautiful riverside patio and historic building (yes it really was a jailhouse!)

Star Diner - Delicious fine dining

Mals - Shoot some pool, play a board game, and great spot for meeting the locals

Sweet Monkey - For all your cakes and sweets catering needs. Now with Keltic Festivals! We’re hoping they do one on the island soon!

Madison Natural Foods - Healthy good food and local farm sourced produce!

Coming for a little shopping too? French Broad Exchange, My Sisters Attic, Main St Comics, Flow Gallery, Penlands, On Your Bike, and Flow Gallery all having lovely options for gifts and local findings.

Next month were excited to announce Movie Nights on the patio! Check our events page for the spooky Halloween movies were showing and stay tuned to hear more about our Halloween plans!

See you in Marshall!!
